About this Plant

White Tinged Sedge is a graceful native sedge valued for its soft, arching foliage and refined garden presence. Its narrow green leaves have a subtly pale or white-tinged edge, giving the plant a bright, delicate look that works beautifully in shaded understory plantings. In late spring to early summer, slender stems rise above the foliage with understated flowers that add gentle seasonal interest.

This low-maintenance sedge thrives in partial to full shade and moist, well-drained soil, making it an excellent choice for shade gardens, woodland borders, rain gardens, and naturalized plantings. Its tidy habit pairs well with ferns, woodland wildflowers, and other sedges, helping create a layered, resilient groundcover.

Why Choose White Tinged Sedge?

Elegant, fine-textured foliage for shade gardens
Pale-edged leaves brighten low-light plantings
Excellent companion for ferns and woodland natives
Useful for rain gardens and understory plantings
Low-maintenance and adaptable once established

Cut back old foliage in late winter or early spring to refresh the plant. Keep soil moderately moist for best performance, especially during establishment.

Maintenance Tips

Trim back dead or damaged foliage as needed throughout the growing season to maintain a tidy appearance.
Spreads slowly through rhizomes, but division may be performed in early spring every 2-3 years if desired to propagate or rejuvenate existing plantings. Lift clumps, divide them into smaller sections, and replant them in suitable locations.
