Allen Chickering Sage
Salvia 'Allen Chickering'
Salvia ‘Allen Chickering’, commonly called Allen Chickering Sage, grows as a large, rounded shrub of aromatic gray-green foliage. The branches are topped with spikes of soft lavender-blue flowers that bloom over a long season from spring into summer, often with repeat flowering into fall. The blossoms create a gentle haze of color and release a pleasant fragrance, especially in warm weather. Hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies are drawn to the nectar-rich blooms, bringing constant activity to the garden. This drought-tolerant salvia can spread to form a substantial presence in the landscape. Prune lightly to maintain shape, or allow it to grow freely as a soft, natural backdrop.
