Blue Fortune Lavender Hyssop

Blue Fortune Hyssop creates months of upright lavender-blue color on a tidy mound of aromatic foliage. Its densely packed flower spikes remain showy for a long period and are exceptionally popular with bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. The plant's vertical shape also mixes easily among grasses and other flowering perennials.

Unlike many selections in a native-focused catalog, ‘Blue Fortune’ is not simply a cultivar of a North American native species. It is a hybrid between North American Agastache foeniculum and East Asian A. rugosa. It remains an excellent pollinator plant, but that mixed ancestry is worth considering for anything beyond an ornamental bed.

• Provide sun and good drainage, especially during winter.
• Leaving flower stems standing into winter can add structure, while cutting the plant back in spring allows fresh growth to emerge cleanly.
