Blueberry Sundae False Indigo

Blueberry Sundae False Indigo brings the distinctive flowers and architectural foliage of Baptisia into a notably compact form. Deep indigo-blue blossoms crowd sturdy flower spikes in late spring, creating a substantial display above attractive blue-green leaves. After flowering, inflated seed pods add texture while the foliage remains handsome well into the growing season.

This selection is an intentional cross between two North American native Baptisia species, B. minor and B. australis. That makes it a native-derived hybrid rather than a cultivar of a single straight species, but it retains the durable foliage, floral structure, deep-rooted growth habit, and pollinator appeal associated with its native parents. Once established, it handles heat, drought, poor soils, and very little ongoing maintenance.
