Bunny Blue® Spreading Sedge

Bunny Blue stands out among native sedges for its distinctly blue-green to silvery-blue leaves. The arching foliage forms dense, orderly mounds roughly six to twelve inches tall, creating a soft evergreen groundcover that contrasts beautifully with ferns, woodland wildflowers, and darker foliage.

This cultivar originated from seed-collected native Carex laxiculmis and retains meaningful ecological value. The species provides food for satyrine butterfly caterpillars, while its seeds and dense foliage benefit birds and small mammals. Although it prefers rich, moist woodland soil, established plants can tolerate periods of dry shade remarkably well.

• Plant in shade to partial sun, ideally in humus-rich soil with regular moisture.
• Remove weathered foliage in late winter before fresh spring growth appears.
