Calico Aster
Symphyotrichum lateriflorum
This plant bursts with small white flowers on spreading branches in fall, providing pollinator food until frost. The short nectar tubes allow many small insects to feed on the flowers. The flower centers are yellow, pink and purple, giving calico aster its name. Mix with other flowers along a wooded edge. This plant can spread around in the garden, revealing itself with plumes of flowers in the fall.
