Clarkia
Clarkia unguiculata
Clarkia unguiculata, commonly called Elegant Clarkia or Farewell-to-Spring, grows as airy, upright clumps of slender green foliage. The stems are topped with an abundance of delicate, satiny flowers that bloom for several weeks from late spring into early summer. The blossoms range in shades of soft pink to lavender, often with deeper markings that add to their charm and movement in the breeze. Bees and other pollinators are drawn to the nectar-rich flowers, bringing lively activity to the garden. Clarkia readily reseeds to form natural drifts over time. Thin seedlings to manage its spread, or allow it to wander for a light, meadow-like display.
