Early Figwort
Scrophularia lanceolata
Early Figwort has small, green-maroon flowers whose beauty is better appreciated up close. What this plant lacks in looks, however, it more than makes up for in pollinator power. Early Figwort is a prolific nectar-producer. Beekeepers know this plant by the name "honeyplant" and even used to plant figworts especially to feed their honeybees! It's equally attractive to native bees, and will also draw in butterflies and even hummingbirds.
