Frogfruit
Frogfruit is a tough, fast-spreading groundcover that thrives in full sun to part shade and handles a wide range of soil types, including compacted or periodically wet areas. Growing only a few inches tall, it forms a dense carpet of greenery that crowds out weeds and tolerates light foot traffic -perfect for pathways, pollinator strips, or replacing turf in eco-conscious landscapes. From late spring through fall, it blooms profusely with tight clusters of tiny, tubular flowers in pale purple to lavender hues, each ringed in white. These blooms are beloved by bees and butterflies, and the plant serves as a larval host for Phaon Crescent, White Peacock, and Common Buckeye butterflies. Especially well-suited to warmer regions, it offers both function and beauty in restoration and ornamental settings.
