Lyreleaf Sage

Salvia lyrata

Lyreleaf Sage has low clusters of lobed leaves and spikes of tubular, periwinkle flowers. It blooms in late spring, attracting bees and the occasional hummingbird. Lyreleaf Sage is a hardy and adaptable plant, thriving in floods or drought, and can even be mowed and used as a lawn alternative. While a prolific seeder, the presence of established plants helps control its growth in the garden.
