Prairie Everlasting
Antennaria neglecta
To create a silvery carpet of foliage in your garden, just plant Prairie Everlasting and let it fill in the gaps. This low-growing plant is the perfect native groundcover for a sunny spot. Prairie Everlasting spreads in the garden each year, but it is easily pulled up where it is not wanted. True to its other common name, Field Pussytoes, its fuzzy white flowers resemble a cat's paws in the spring. Despite its small stature, Prairie Everlasting supports pollinators including the painted lady butterfly, whose caterpillars consume its leaves.
