Purple Poppy-Mallow
Callirhoe involucrata
Purple Poppy-Mallow, also commonly known as Winecup Mallow, is a low-growing, herbaceous perennial that spreads out to form a dense mat of foliage, making it an excellent ground cover option. Its deeply lobed, green leaves are attractive throughout the growing season, but the plant is most notable for its cup-shaped, wine-red to magenta flowers that bloom profusely from late spring through summer. These striking blossoms are not only a visual highlight but also attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Purple Poppy-Mallow thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, adapting well to rock gardens, borders, and slopes where erosion control is needed.
