Showy Goldenrod
Solidago speciosa
This plant lives up to its name with the most prolific flowering display among the goldenrods. Bedecked with a profusion of dazzling yellow blooms, Showy Goldenrod is appealing to both people and pollinators. Each fall, this and other goldenrods are bustling with native bee and other pollinator activity, as this group of plants supports more specialist pollinators than any other wildflower. Goldenrods are also exceptional host plants, supporting a large number of butterfly and moth caterpillars.
