Slender Woodoats
Chasmanthium laxum
Slender Woodoats is mainly a grass of the Southeastern US. It is normally found in moist habitats like wet meadows and swamps, but in the garden it is surprisingly adaptable and can tolerate moderate drought and sandy soils. Slender Woodoats has arching, narrow leaves that add graceful movement to a planting. Delicate spikes of arrow-shaped seeds stand tall above the leaves in late summer. Slender Woodoats is a hardy plant that can spread in ideal conditions. Pull seedlings and divide every few years to keep its growth in check.
