Solomon's Seal

Polygonatum biflorum

Solomon's Seal is a relatively well known shade perennial thanks to its unique and graceful structure and distinctive foliage. This plant's arching stems can reach up to 3 feet in length almost entirely lined with pairs of small, tubular, greenish-white flowers in late spring. As the season progresses, these blooms may give way to small, dark berries that provide autumn interest and feed local wildlife. Solomon's seal thrives in part to full shade, preferring moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. It's perfect for naturalizing under trees or pairing with other shade-loving perennials.
