White-Flower Beardtongue
Penstemon albidus
White-Flower Beardtongue is a drought-tolerant perennial that brings a unique charm to xeriscapes and naturalized areas with its slender stems and tubular white flowers that have a hint of purple at their bases. Blooming in late spring to early summer, its flowers are particularly attractive to bees and even hummingbirds. Growing 1 to 2 feet tall, White-Flower Beardtongue is well-suited for rock gardens, borders, and sandy soils where other plants might struggle. It thrives in the full sun and well-drained, poor soils of its native prairie habitat.

Maintenance Tips
- Drought-resistant once established; water moderately until then, especially in very dry conditions.
- Deadhead spent blooms to encourage additional flowering.
- Prefers well-drained, sandy or rocky soils; avoid overwatering and overly fertile soil to prevent lush growth that can weaken the plant.
- Minimal care needed; watch for fungal diseases in humid conditions and treat as needed.
