White Sage

Salvia apiana

White Sage - also called Bee Sage or Sacred Sage - is an iconic evergreen shrub native to Southern California and Baja California. Growing 3 to 5 feet tall and wide, it features lance-shaped, silver-white leaves with a pungent, resinous scent. In late spring and early summer, it sends up dramatic flower stalks reaching up to 6 feet tall, lined with pale lavender to white blooms that draw hummingbirds, bumblebees, and specialist native bees.

White Sage is a cornerstone of chaparral and coastal sage scrub habitats, exceptionally drought-tolerant and well-suited to hot, arid gardens with fast-draining soils. This sun-loving sage adds visual drama, fragrance, and habitat value to native plant landscapes.
