Blue-Stemmed Goldenrod
Solidago caesia
Each fall, the low-arching wands of Blue-Stemmed Goldenrod seem to glow in the shade of the forest, where this species grows wild. This unique, garden-friendly goldenrod can tolerate shade or sun. Goldenrods are some of the very best wildflowers for pollinators: their flowers support a record number of specialist bees, and their leaves feed many different species of caterpillars. These flowers do not cause seasonal allergies, though they are sometimes blamed for the symptoms caused by ragweed, which blooms at the same time.
