Bowman's Root
Gillenia trifoliata
Bowman’s Root is a woodland gem prized for its airy clusters of small, white star-shaped flowers. Blooming from late spring to early summer, these delicate flowers float above the plant's dense, deeply lobed foliage, which turns an attractive red in the fall. The upright, wiry stems can grow up to 3 feet tall, adding height and movement to shaded borders and naturalistic plantings. Bowman’s root is an excellent companion for ferns and other shade-loving perennials in woodland gardens and shaded borders.
