Cross Vine

Bignonia capreolata

Native to much of the Southeast, Cross Vine is a fast-growing, evergreen vine that can reach lengths of 40 feet or more. This makes it a great choice to for covering fences, trellises, and other structures with its dense foliage. In spring, it produces a profusion of showy, trumpet-shaped flowers that are typically orange with a yellow throat. These vibrant blooms not only provide visual appeal but also serve as a significant nectar source for hummingbirds and other pollinators. The vine's common name, 'cross vine,' comes from the cross-shaped pattern seen when the stem is cut. Cross Vine prefers full sun to partial shade and thrives in well-drained soil.
