Dougals Iris
Iris douglasiana
Douglas Iris is suited to a variety of garden settings, particularly those with partial shade. Native to the coastal regions of California, it thrives in woodland and grassland environments, blending beautifully with both natural and designed landscapes. The plant grows clumps of slender, green leaves which give way to purple-blue, lavender, and even white flowers that add a wild splash of color to the spring garden. Each flower is intricately veined, giving it a delicate appearance that attracts pollinators and garden admirers alike. Douglas Iris is especially well-suited for coastal gardens due to its tolerance of salt spray and its ability to thrive in sandy soils.
