Early Meadowrue
Thalictrum dioicum
Early Meadowrue features finely divided, bluish-green leaves that resemble columbine or maidenhair fern, providing excellent textural contrast in the garden. This plant is dioecious, meaning individual plants bear either male or female flowers. The male flowers are showier, with drooping clusters of yellowish stamens, while female flowers are more subdued. Blooming in early spring, it prefers dappled shade and well-drained, fertile soil, making it a charming addition to woodland settings and shaded rock gardens.
