Frank's Sedge
Carex frankii
Frank's Sedge is highly adaptable and of great ecological value, particularly in wetland and riparian environments. This sedge forms dense clumps of narrow, green leaves that can grow up to 3 feet tall. In late spring to early summer, it produces distinctive seed heads that are covered in bristles, adding textural interest to the garden. These seed heads are not only visually appealing but also attract various birds and small mammals that feed on them. Frank's Sedge is excellent for naturalizing in areas with moist soils, such as along pond edges, in rain gardens, or as part of a wet meadow planting.
