Goat's Beard
Goat's Beard is a robust perennial suited for background plantings and woodland gardens. It grows tall, reaching 4 to 6 feet in height, with an equally wide spread due to its bushy clumps of deep green, sharply serrated leaves. In early to mid-summer, it produces spectacular, feathery plumes of tiny, creamy white flowers that rise above the foliage, creating a soft, cloud-like appearance. These plumes are not only visually striking but also attract a variety of pollinators, including bees and butterflies.
Goat's beard prefers partial to full shade and thrives in moist, well-drained soils rich in organic matter, making it ideal for shaded borders, woodland settings, or near streams or water features where its roots can access consistent moisture.

Maintenance Tips
- If planted in a dryer location may require regular watering to keep the soil consistently moist while establishing.
- Cut back flower stalks after blooming to tidy up the plant and prevent self-seeding. Remove any dead or damaged foliage as needed.
- Prefers rich, loamy, and moist soil. Amend with compost or peat moss to enhance soil structure and fertility.
- Apply a thick layer of organic mulch to help retain soil moisture, regulate soil temperature, and suppress weed growth.
- Monitor for pest issues like aphids and diseases such as powdery mildew, especially in humid conditions. Ensure good air circulation to minimize disease risks.
