Golden Ragwort
Packera aurea
The profuse sunny blooms of Golden Ragwort are a welcome sight after a long winter. Blooming in spring, the small yellow flowers produce plenty of nectar to feed hungry pollinators. Golden Ragwort has attractive foliage that hugs the ground and is evergreen in most areas, which along with its ability to spread make it an excellent groundcover. It's best paired with other robust growers as it can outcompete daintier woodland plants. Remove spent flower stalks or leave them to develop seeds to feed the birds.
