Hairy-Fruit Sedge

Carex trichocarpa

Hairy-Fruited Sedge is a valuable addition to any moist landscape, thriving in wet meadows, along stream banks, and in other wetland areas. Like many other sedges, it forms dense clumps of long, slender leaves that can reach up to 3 feet in height. During the late spring and early summer, it produces spike-like flower clusters that later develop into its notable hairy, brown seeds. These seeds not only add visual interest but also provide food for local wildlife. This sedge's ability to thrive in wet conditions makes it excellent for soil stabilization and creating wildlife habitats in damp environments.
