Jacob's Ladder

Polemonium reptans

An easy-to-grow spring bloomer! Purple-blue flowers top Jacob's Ladder in early spring, and the plant's divided foliage provides interest all season, as long as the plant gets enough moisture. Needs moist soil if grown in full sun, as it prefers shade. Pink- and blue-purple blooms help feed queen bumblebees, who must gather enough pollen and nectar in spring to start their colonies. Attractive foliage forms a nice groundcover if planted densely or allowed to seed.
