Old Field Goldenrod

Solidago nemoralis

Old Field Goldenrod is one of the smallest species of goldenrod and is a great fit for a shorter garden. Handsome gray-green foliage is topped with waves of yellow flowers in the fall. Flower heads remain an attractive yellow long after bloom. Very attractive to pollinators, and host to many species of caterpillars. It can tolerate even the toughest, driest soils. This plant can spread but not as aggressively as other goldenrods. Divide plants and pull seedlings to control spreading.
