White Snakeroot
Ageratina altissima
The brilliant white flowers of White Snakeroot create a striking contrast with its deep green foliage, especially when it is planted in partial share. This long-blooming, deer-resistant plant provides pollen and nectar to native bees. Its leaves host caterpillars, including those of the ruby tiger moth. When left alone, white snakeroot can spread quickly by seed and rhizome (roots), but it eventually gives way to longer-lived species.

Maintenance Tips
- Consider removing seedlings every so often to control spread if this becomes an issue
- Deadhead spent flowers to prolong bloom times and reduce seedling load in your garden
- Summer Special - White snakeroot can spread and form colonies in the garden. To contain this plant, we recommend cutting undesired stems back to the ground, without disturbing the soil, to give other plants more room.
