Protect the Piedmont's Pollinators - Starting in Your Own Backyard

Monarch butterflies are vanishing at an alarming rate, but together, we can change that. As part of the Marvin Mayor’s Monarch Pledge in conjunction with Habitat Builders (the local NC Wildlife Federation chapter), My Home Park is proud to offer a curated selection of native plants and ready-to-plant pollinator gardens designed specifically to support monarch butterflies and other essential pollinators around Union County, NC.

Every purchase directly supports our commitment to creating healthier habitats for monarchs, bees, and other beneficial insects. By planting native, pesticide-free species adapted to the Southern Piedmont climate, you’re helping rebuild the natural corridors monarchs depend on during their incredible migration.

How it Works

  1. Choose Your Site: Determing if your planned planting location is sunny (>6 hours of sun per day), shady (<6 hours per day) or partial (3-5 hours of sun) and whether the soil in that location tends to be dry or damp. This will help you choose the garden and plants that will be most successul.
  2. Choose Your Garden: Select from pollinator-friendly garden kits or individual native plants handpicked for our Southern Piedmont ecosystem.
  3. Schedule Your Shipment: Your order will automatically be assigned the earliest available shipping window but you can adjust this date from your cart to fit your schedule. Once your week arrives your plants will ship directly to your door from one of My Home Parks' restoration grade nursery partners.
  4. Plant at Home: Easy-to-follow planting guides linked in your order confirmation email make starting your pollinator patch simple and rewarding.
  5. Support a Shared Mission: A portion of each sale contributes to Habitat Builders' initiatives: helping expand public education, habitat restoration, and community involvement about native pollinators.

Why Native Plants Matter

Native plants are nature’s original helpers. They need less water, thrive without chemical fertilizers, and supply the nectar and shelter monarchs need to thrive. Every milkweed stem or native bloom you plant is a step toward restoring balance—and your garden becomes part of something much bigger than itself.
