Bearberry

Bearberry, also known as Kinnikinnick or Sandberry, is a tough, low-growing evergreen that forms a handsome living carpet of trailing woody stems and small, glossy leaves. In spring, delicate urn-shaped flowers emerge in shades of white and soft pink, followed by bright red berries that can persist into winter. The foliage may also take on reddish or purplish tones in cold weather, giving this groundcover multi-season appeal.

Especially useful for exposed slopes, rock gardens, sandy banks, and lean dry sites, Bearberry spreads gradually to form a dense mat that helps stabilize soil and suppress open patches.
