Cinderella Swamp Milkweed
Cinderella Swamp Milkweed combines the exceptional wildlife value of native swamp milkweed with rich rosy-pink flowers and a tidy upright habit. Rounded clusters of vanilla-scented blooms appear in midsummer and continue for weeks above narrow green foliage, attracting monarchs, butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. Elongated seed pods follow later in the season, eventually opening to release the familiar silky seeds of milkweeds.
Despite its “swamp” name, this milkweed does not require standing water. It grows beautifully in ordinary garden soil as long as conditions do not become chronically dry, while also thriving in rain gardens and periodically wet sites. ‘Cinderella’ is a named selection of the native species Asclepias incarnata, chosen for desirable garden traits while retaining the plant’s essential ecological role as a monarch host and valuable nectar source.
Why Choose Cinderella Swamp Milkweed:
- Host plant for monarch butterfly caterpillars
- Fragrant rosy-pink flowers attract butterflies, bees, and other pollinators
- Tidy upright habit works well in designed garden beds

-
